2011 ESPNU Lacrosse Tour

BRISTOL, Conn. (March 10, 2011) — For the 2011 season, ESPNU is continuing to cement its place as the home for collegiate lacrosse and lacrosse fans. The 24-hour college sports network will be televising 53 total lacrosse games – featuring 31 regular-season matchups, 29 men’s games, two women’s games and 8 NCAA Men’s Championship games.


Coinciding with the increase in coverage, ESPNU will also be adding an onsite fan experience by bringing the 2011 ESPNU Lacrosse Tour to the following games and tournaments:

The 2011 ESPNU Lacrosse Tour is a lacrosse fan fest, hosted by Mike Powell, featuring a lacrosse cage set outside each stadium that includes two full goals where fans can pick up a stick and shoot goals, practice tricks and even play with Mike Powell. In addition to the cage, there will be two LED TVs playing ESPNU lacrosse highlights, as well as bleachers situated around the footprint to encourage viewing and fan participation.


Throughout the event Mike Powell will greet fans and sign autographs as the ESPNU event staff distribute ESPNU giveaways to fans, including T-shirts, lanyards, eye black and Mike Powell posters. Other highlights of the ESPNU Lacrosse Tour include:

* The ESPNU Monument
A 24-foot tall, interactive monument designed in the likeness of the ESPNU logo will be on display outside each stadium.

* ESPNU Minibus
A fully customized minibus that includes a DJ booth, as well as a college-themed body and face painting station where students can pick their school colors to display their school spirit during the games.

* “Game of L-A-X”
Hosted by Mike Powell, the game of “L-A-X” is played similar to the basketball game of H-O-R-S-E. One contestant must complete a trick and his opponent has the opportunity to match the trick or receive a letter. The first person to force his opponent to obtain all three letters wins the game. The two finalists from each event will compete for the chance to win an ESPNU lacrosse prize package provided by Warrior, which will be presented by Mike Powell at halftime on the field during one of the day’s games.
