The 43rd edition of the Vail Lacrosse Shootout, one of the most well-known and prestigious lacrosse tournaments in the country, will once again bring exciting and competitive lacrosse action to scenic Vail, Colorado this summer. Approximately 2,000 lacrosse players will compete in 8 divisions over nine days in the Rocky Mountains. We’re excited to have the Men’s Masters, Supermasters & Grandmasters Divisions again join the Shootout after a 1 year hiatus as they competed in the lacrosse World Championships in Denver last summer. Also, for the first time, we’ll welcome players age 60 and over to our new “Zenmasters” Division.

The Under 19 High School Boys and Girls teams take to the fields on June 28 and will crown a champion on July 1. This year’s high school teams promise exciting and competitive lacrosse action with some of the most talented players, many of whom will play Division I college lacrosse next year, from across the country as well as here in Colorado.

The Men’s Elite Division is the headliner, taking place from July 2 through July 5 and coinciding with the Women’s Elite tournament. The Men’s Elite teams always bring extremely competitive and exciting lacrosse action to the field.

Boys ages 7 to 12 will have the opportunity to learn about the game of lacrosse and develop their skills at our Youth Lacrosse Clinic on Thursday, July 3 from 9:00 to 11:00 a.m. at Donovan Park in Vail. Tournament staff as well as current and former high school and college coaches will be on hand to teach stick skills and game winning strategies. T-shirts and prizes will be awarded! RSVP to [email protected].

This year the Vail Shootout is excited to partner with Coaches Aid to offer live streaming of semi-finals and finals in our High School and Elite Divisions. Coaches Aid and the ASBN Network represent the leading producers of high definition, web-based coverage of athletic events across the nation. “Coaches Aid is very excited to partner with the Vail Lacrosse Shootout on one of the premier lacrosse sporting events in the United States this year………We hope that every lacrosse enthusiast enjoys the hundreds of hours of broadcasting that will be available,” said Mike DeSimone, Director of Operations at Coaches Aid.

Off the field, participants and their families enjoy the beautiful scenery and many activities the Vail area offers such as white-water rafting, hiking, mountain bike riding, gondola rides, golf, horseback riding or an adventurous ATV tour. The Vail Shootout as a “family reunion” of sorts as players of all ages come together to experience lacrosse at 8,150 feet. Expect great lacrosse, great weather and great fun as the Shootout turns 43!

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
