Lacrosse The Pond is your ticket to exploring the world, while gaining a masters degree at one of the United Kingdom’s premier Universities as part of their Lacrosse team. Build your resume, play lacrosse, see the world. Today a former participant, Mickey Cahill, shares a testimonial from her experience abroad.

My decision to come to the United Kingdom this summer was one of the easiest decisions I have ever made and it has already proven to be life changing. After I finished my senior lacrosse season, I really didn’t have an idea of what I wanted to do. Lacrosse had been such a huge part of my life, I wasn’t sure how I would say goodbye to it. Lacrosse the Pond soon became the answer to my worries. It gave me the opportunity to continue doing what I loved while working toward my future by getting a Master’s degree. Gaining my masters in England has given me the opportunity to study and interact with lots of different students from around the world.and everyday has been a new and exciting experience.

I am playing for two teams, the University of Manchester team and a local club team at Timperley. The standard at the university level is very different than what I had been used to, but it has been so rewarding sharing my knowledge of the sport and seeing these girls and the team improve every day. The experience on the club team has also been tremendous. Even during college, I have never played on a team that worked as well together as we do at Timperley. Everyone tries so hard and wants to do so well that I am so happy to say that we are now in the top spot of the league! It has been so fulfilling knowing that I have been a part of such success.

Being here these past few months has been a blessing and I have been able to meet and converse with so many people from all over the world. I have such a different worldview now and I couldn’t be happier! One of the highlights of the past few months was completing the Tough Mudder, Its a crazy 12 mile obstacle course out in Herefordshire at Cholmondeley Castle. The course itself has a variety of terrain and conditions ranging from mud to wet mud and sticky mud!!! Needless to say the course was a great challenge and allot of fun. All in all gaining my masters in the UK has been one of the best decisions in my life and its set me up and given me focus to go back to the USA and start my career.
