NLL to Hold Dispersal Draft for Boston Blazers Players

The Canadian Press Reports…

The National Lacrosse League announced Friday that it will be holding a dispersal draft of the Boston Blazers roster. The four-round draft will be held on Sept. 9, with the draft order being determined by the league’s 2011 overall standings.

As a result, the Edmonton Rush will pick second, the Calgary Roughnecks seventh and the Toronto Rock — the reigning NLL champions — will have the ninth and final pick in all four rounds.

“The Boston roster was very top heavy in talent,” said Rock owner and president Jamie Dawick in a statement. “Picking in the No. 9 spot doesn’t mean a lot to the Toronto Rock as I don’t believe the ninth best player on the Boston roster would have made our team that just won the NLL championship.”

Prominent players available in the dispersal draft include former league MVP Dan Dawson and former Champions’ Cup MVP Josh Sanderson.

Boston announced the temporary suspension of operations on Aug. 30th as the Blazers try and find a new home facility for the 2013 season.
