HPU Men’s Lacrosse Participates in “Stuff the Stocking” Campaign (Video)

High Point, NC – Members of the High Point University men’s lacrosse team were among many HPU students to participate in the Salvation Army and WFMY News 2 “Stuff the Stocking” campaign. All 20 team members stuffed stockings with gifts for families that will be helped by the Salvation Army this Christmas.

“It’s one of the major goals of our program to give back to the community and help our student-athletes grow in all areas, on and off the field,” said HPU head coach Jon Torpey. “Especially at this time year, it’s essential for our guys to help people who might be less fortunate than them.”

Each team member sponsored a child, stuffing a total of 20 stockings. The event was covered by WFMY News 2 and featured on the 5 p.m. news on Tuesday, Dec. 13.

Members of the community can still participate in this initiative. Stockings can be picked up at WFMY News 2, any Triad-area Chick-fil-A, Mattress Firm or any Salvation Army location. The stockings can be filled and returned to a participating location by Friday, Dec. 15.

High Point University announced the addition of men’s lacrosse in 2010 and the team has 19 members on campus this year who are training and preparing for the inaugural season of 2012-12. On Tuesday, Torpey announced the addition of 18 more recruits for next season.
