Adam Sherman Tapped As The Mariners’ Head Lacrosse Coach

CASTINE, Maine – Maine Maritime Academy Director of Athletics, Eric Sabean, announced the appointment of Adam Sherman as the Mariners’ Head Lacrosse Coach. Sherman, who has served on the Academy’s football staff since last July, will assume his new duties immediately. He will also retain a role with the football program.

“We are thrilled to have secured a coach with such a broad array of talents,” said Sabean. “Coach Sherman brings energy and enthusiasm to the department on a daily basis and his passion as a coach and educator has been obvious since he arrived last year.”

Sherman brings nine years of playing experience to his first lacrosse coaching position. His lacrosse playing days culminated with his All-New Hampshire selection as a high school senior. In addition to his time on the field, the Amherst, N.H. native has extensive indoor experience and played under current Notre Dame assistant, Gerry Byrne.

“I am very excited to for this opportunity and I am eager to be a part of this great community,” said Sherman. “As a program, I look forward to building on the previous successes and competing for a first-ever NAC championship.”

A four-year letterwinner in football at Springfield College, Sherman earned a degree in Communications in 2008. He began his coaching career at Souhegan High School in Amherst in 2007 before making the jump to the college game last year, joining the Academy staff as the Offensive Line Coach.

He also designed the strength and conditioning programs for the squad, an area in which he has extensive experience on the high school level. Sherman combines those areas of expertise as the Media Coordinator for the Aerobics and Fitness Association of America. In that capacity, he has aided in the casting of NBC’s The Biggest Loser.

Sherman spent two years as a field producer for WCBS-TV sports in New York City, experience that served him well coordinating MMA’s video scouting reports. He spent three years living in California working in the entertainment industry where he worked on a number of popular television shows like America’s Best Dance Crew, The Voice, Minute to Win it, and The Comedy Central Roasts.
