CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Former Virginia All-America goalie Adam Ghitelman, who won a national championship with the Cavaliers in 2011, has joined the Harvard men’s lacrosse staff as a volunteer assistant coach, Chris Wojcik ’96, the Frisbie Family Head Coach for Harvard Men’s Lacrosse announced this week.
“I’m happy to welcome Adam Ghitelman to Harvard, and he will be a great addition to our program,” Wojcik said. “Adam is a proven winner, and he has excelled at every level of the game. Adam will train and mentor our goaltenders and his presence on and off the field will benefit our entire team.”
Ghitelman, who currently plays for the Charlotte Hounds of Major League Lacrosse, recorded 586 saves during his 62-game career at Virginia, posting a 8.94 goals-against average and a save percentage of .533. During Virginia’s run to the national championship last spring, Ghitelman, who served as one of the team’s captains in 2011, started 17 games and stopped 178 shots, to go along with a .954 goals-against average. He concluded his collegiate career second in Virginia history in career saves.
A native of Cold Spring, N.Y., Ghitelman played for the Denver Outlaws during the 2011 MLL season.
