Texas Men’s Lacrosse Player Blog: Ndamukong Suh

The 2012 season is here and we wanted to work closely with college programs to bring a part of the excitement to you. Throughout the 2012 season we will highlight lacrosse programs on our space for all of our readers to follow. Player blogs serve as a unique outlet for programs to showcase their season as it develops, plus highlight everything they have to offer a student-athlete. In contrast, families and fans get a glimpse into the program’s athletic and academic regimen.

Four down, three up, two tourneys left. Right now, the Longhorns are killin’ it (streakin’ on 3 Ws) and are undoubtedly going to carry the success into the Lonestar Alliance Tournament, then pack it up and fly with it to Greenville, SC, for the MCLA tournament— the GRANDADDY of the D1 (club) tournaments!

Two weeks ago, we made a trip to Portland, Oregon, to play U of Oregon and Simon Frasier, a Canadian team. We got to see the sights, and for those who have not been to Oregon, it is exactly as you would imagine— very Oregon-ey. U of O itself is a gnarly complex and the game was solid, before the Ducks got away with it. The Canucks (Simon Frasier) were equally as good, though the match was closer.

We stopped by Niketown to get geared up, casually ran into Ndamukong Suh at the employee store, and dropped bills at none other than the Columbia store. Some kids on the team have an affinity for fishing gear… or they aspire to be the next Bear Grylls. We got some weird people. They outfitted themselves in camping stuff.

We spent a while playing around, but when things got real, the team got serious. That’s what it’s all about. The Club circuit is the perfect balance of too much fun and just enough play. A solid amount of scrimmaging and just enough sprints (before everyone passes out). We’re looking to take Greenville by storm, but two weeks of practice and a barrage of exams lay between now and then. But hey, YOLO right? This team’s about to have some fun.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
