Division I Tournament Field Announced


INDIANAPOLIS – The NCAA Division I Men’s Lacrosse Committee announced the field for its championship tournament.

The 16-team field includes seven conference champions with automatic qualification — American East Conference (Stony Brook), Big East Conference (Syracuse), Colonial Athletic Association (Massachusetts), Eastern College Athletic Conference (Loyola (Md.)), Ivy Group (Yale), Metro Atlantic Athletic Conference (Canisius) and Patriot League (Lehigh). The remainder of the field was selected at large: Colgate, Denver, Duke, Johns Hopkins, North Carolina, Maryland, Notre Dame, Princeton, and Virginia.

The Division I semifinal and championship games, and the Division II and III championship games, will be held at Gillette Stadium in Foxborough, Mass., May 26-28. All Division I first round games will be televised on ESPNU May 12 and 13. The Division I semifinals will be televised live on ESPN2 HD starting at 2:30 p.m. Eastern time, May 26. The championship game will be televised live on ESPN HD starting at 1 p.m. Eastern time, May 28.

The championship host is Harvard. This is one of only two NCAA team championships, along with women’s rowing, that holds the championships of all three divisions at a common site. The 2013 championships will be held in Philadelphia, Pa.
