Vail Lacrosse Shootout Day Three Results

Team Maverik advanced over Denver City Lax / Encore to return to the Men’s Elite Semi-Finals


Jagermeister took home the first championship of the 40th Vail Lacrosse Shootout with an overtime win in Men’s Masters Finals on Monday. Jager returned to their championship ways winning their third Vail Masters title to add to the 2009 & 2008 championships.

In the Men’s elite quarter-finals all the top seeds advanced with the exception of Team Harrow. In the day’s first game on Ford Field, Team Harrow thought they had taken a one goal lead with less than a minute remaining, only to realize the bench had called a time-out before the goal. Brine Elite, then took possession of the ball and scored the game winning goal with less than 30 seconds left to win the game. Brine Elite will face Merrill Lynch / Lacrossewear at 1:00pm for the day’s first semi-final. The second semi-final will be a repeat of last year’s match-up. Maverik Elite will look for redemption after being upset last year by Rocky Mountain Oysters / Lax.com. The Maverik vs. Oysters game will take place at 3:00pm on Ford Field.

Jagermeister rallied to win in overtime against Adrenaline in the Masters Championship.


Pool play ended in the Women’s Elite division today. Quarter and semi finals will take place tomorrow in Edwards. Gang Green, Portland Purple, Cole Roofing, CRSLAX.com and LOfers won their pools and advanced through the first round of bracket play to the quarter-final games tomorrow on Athletic Field.

Jagermeister won their third Vail Lacrosse Shootout Masters title.

Men’s Masters
Championship
Jagermeister 10, Adrenaline 9 in OT
In this heated Masters championship game, Adrenaline held the lead up until the fourth quarter when Jager attackman James Kappler scored to bring the count to 9-9. The game was decided when Kappler scored again in the final second of overtime. Jager attackman Marc Digovanni also helped the team along with two goals and three assists. Adrenaline goalie Alex Smith repeatedly fended off the Jagermeister shots with a total of 13 saves. Chris Bok, an Adrenaline midfielder, made his mark with a hat trick and an assist.

3rd Place
Hulu 12, Olympic Club 2
The third-place game of the Masters division was decided quickly as Hulu crushed Olympic Club. Hulu midfielder Jim Loffredo continued to impress as he won a total of nine face-offs. Kevin McLane, a Hulu attackman, racked up a total of four goals. Despite the loss, Mike Leonard was a strong presence on the Olympic Club defense.

Women’s Elite bracket play commenced on Monday – Portland Purple advanced with a win over Texas Swagger.

PowerTek sped past the Silver Oysters on the last day of Masters play. Joseph Mills helped PowerTek to consistently hold possession by winning a total of eleven face-offs.

Tournament director Jim Soran came out of a decade-long hiatus and scored two goals to help the staff team win over Buddha’s Ballers.
