Detroit Men’s Lacrosse Adds Graham Adams & Nicholas Zoroya To Staff

DETROIT — Detroit head men’s lacrosse coach Matt Holtz has announced the addition of two people to his staff in Graham Adams and Nicholas Zoroya.

Adams will work with special teams and skill development, while Zoroya will assume the Director of Lacrosse Operations. In addition, assistant coach Karl Zimmerman – who joined the staff last season – has been promoted to offensive coordinator.

Adams joins the Titans after a four-year playing career at Stony Brook, where he was a member of two NCAA Tournament teams. He played in 52 games in his four years as the Seawolves won 39 games, including a school record 13 in 2010. Stony Brook also won a pair of America East titles (2010, 2012) and advanced to the quarterfinals of the NCAA Tournament in 2010.Playing attack and midfield, he notched 14 goals and 11 assists for 25 points, while picking up 11 ground balls.

“Graham is a local product with a great pedigree from Brother Rice and Stony Brook,” said Holtz. “He has a wealth of knowledge that he can bring to the table to help us move forward.”

A native of Royal Oak, he graduated from Brother Rice High School, where he earned three letters and was All-Region, All-State and All-American as a senior. The team won a state championship in each of his years and in 2008, he helped the squad to a perfect 23-0 record as Brother Rice was the STX/Inside Lacrosse National Champions. While in college, he was a summer camp instructor at Brother Rice as well as at All American Lacrosse.

He graduated from Stony Brook with a political science degree and is pursuing his master’s in criminal justice at UDM.

Zoroya is another local coach hailing from Novi. He earned four letters in lacrosse at Novi High School and was an All-State midfielder in 2007. He then played collegiately at Oberlin for one year playing in all 12 games as the Yeomen’s faceoff specialist. He won over 50% of his faceoffs, while tallying 60 groundballs – second on the team – and five points on two goals and three assists. Born in Germany, he also attended Germany’s U-19 tryouts for the national lacrosse team.

“Nick is a hard worker who is willing to do whatever it takes to help out the UDM lacrosse team,” said Holtz. “We are very excited to have him. He has already jumped in and taken over our fall 7v7 camp.”

Aside from playing, Zoroya has been a US Lacrosse High School Area Chairman and is on the All State and All American Committee. He was also the first coach at Ann Arbor Skyline’s lacrosse program from 2008-10, coached at Novi in 2011 and is the Owner and Founder of the Delta Lacrosse Club.

After transferring from Oberlin, he earned his degree in Kinesiology from the University of Michigan in 2011.
