Reebok To Sponsor Turkey Lacrosse

(January 08, 2013) – Free gear! It’s a phrase that every lacrosse player loves hearing and one that Reebok is helping the folks at Turkey Lacrosse say. Reebok recently agreed to help sponsor Turkey Lacrosse by donating 150 heads as they host the 2013 Turkey Lacrosse Open during September of this year in the southern coastal city of Alanya.

In the past few years, Reebok has proven to be successful at locating less well-known sports and helping them reach national prestige, as evidenced by their endorsement of CrossFit, which has evolved from a relatively unheard of sport to a nation-wide phenomenon known as “the Sport of Fitness”. Turkey Lacrosse is confident that the support that Reebok brings to their mission will help inspire a similar movement of lacrosse in Turkey.

“Given the explosion of lacrosse in recent years, as evidenced by the turnout at the Lacrosse World Championships in 2006 and an even bigger turnout in 2010, I figured that it was only a matter of time before Turkey jumped on board,” remarks Jordan Hall, Reebok representative. “With leadership like Patrick Dougherty (Founder and Executive Director of Turkey Lacrosse), the 2013 Turkey Lacrosse Open will be an easy sell.”

“We hope to bring lacrosse to as many people in Turkey as possible, and Reebok’s support of the 2013 Turkey Lacrosse Open in Alanya is critical to that mission,” says Founder and Executive Director of Turkey Lacrosse, Patrick Dougherty.

Since 2006, Reebok has been the official equipment, uniform, and footwear provider of the National Lacrosse League (NLL). Reebok is the first and only major lacrosse company to commit to sponsoring the 2013 Turkey Lacrosse Open in Alanya. The tournament will feature 16 men’s teams as well as 10 women’s teams.

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
