Major League Lacrosse Championship Weekend to take place at PPL Park in Chester, Pa., August 24-25


Major League Lacrosse (MLL), the premier professional outdoor lacrosse league, announced today that Championship Weekend will take place at PPL Park in Chester, Pa. on August 24 and 25.

“Championship Weekend is one of our marquee events, capping our season with the four best teams in the League,” said MLL Commissioner David Gross. “The Philadelphia area is rich with lacrosse tradition and PPL Park is the perfect venue to showcase the best teams in MLL.”

The weekend will begin with the semifinals on Saturday, Aug. 24, followed by the final on Sunday, Aug. 25. The event will also feature the MLL Fan Zone an interactive area with fun and games for lacrosse fans of all ages.

PPL Park is the home of Major League Soccer’s Philadelphia Union and has hosted several NCAA Lacrosse games. In 2013 it will also host the inaugural Whitman’s Sampler Independence Classic, a triple header Lacrosse event with six NCAA teams for a full day of lacrosse.

“We are excited to host the 2013 Major League Lacrosse Championship Weekend at PPL Park,” said Philadelphia Union CEO & Operating Partner Nick Sakiewicz. “Lacrosse is one of the fastest growing sports in the country and we are elated to welcome fans of all ages to the PPL Park, a venue that is quickly becoming known as one of the best sporting venues in the country.”

The event is organized in conjunction with YSC Sports Marketing, a Philadelphia based sports and entertainment company that specializes in live events, sponsorship, television rights and consulting.
