SKLZ To Launch First Lacrosse Player Evaluation Combine

CARLSBAD, CA – June 4, 2013 – SKLZ, the global leader in athletic skill and performance training products and instruction, announced today that it will begin rolling out several sport-specific player evaluation combines, starting with Lacrosse on June 7th in Orange County, CA in conjunction with the LXM Pro Tour. The new SKLZ evaluation platform will launch the day prior to the Adrenaline Lacrosse All-American game. SKLZ, in conjunction with Athletes’ Performance, will test and evaluate 50 of the best high school Lacrosse players on the West Coast.

“The partnership between Adrenaline and SKLZ can be seen at its finest with this event,” says Alex Cade CMO Adrenaline Lacrosse. “The months of collaborative development between the groups that care deeply about our sport have produced a product and event that will push our sport forward. I’m excited for the Adrenaline athletes.”

The testing process will use the most advanced SKLZ and Zybek timing equipment available, including the same timing gates used during the 2013 NFL Combine and a unique Reactive Agility Test (RAT). All data generated during the event will be compared to over a decade’s worth of elite athlete composites compiled by Athletes’ Performance, including testing results for top LXM pro athlete Kyle Harrison. Harrison was an integral part in designing and developing the Lacrosse-specific tests.

“With the massive growth in the sport, working with SKLZ and Athletes’ Performance to create the first Lacrosse-specific combine is extremely exciting,” says Harrison. “I’m most excited about new test methods like the Reactive Agility Test because it relates so directly to our sport and the decisions that have to be made on every play. This evaluation platform is amazing. We’ve never had anything like it before.”

Athletes will be evaluated across five testing protocols: Vertical Jump, 40-Yard Dash, Reactive Agility Test, Shot Speed, 20-Yard Shuttle, and Running-based Anaerobic Sprint Test (RAST). The new Reactive Agility Test is a first for combines of this nature, going beyond standard linear sprint tests to add directional reaction as a component that provides key indicators for performance in Lacrosse. Resulting number rankings from the testing will give athletes a chance to see their strengths and weaknesses as well as measure themselves against other players around the nation.

“We are proud of our partnership with Athletes’ Performance and Adrenaline,” says SKLZ VP of business development, James Choe. “There’s something to be said when three established companies commit to a shared endeavor inspired by the athletes they serve. The vision and collaboration ushers in an exciting comprehensive experience for athletic performance evaluation. The Adrenaline event will offer numerous lacrosse-specific assessments uniquely tailored for the particular needs and skill sets of the sport. Far from the one-size-fits-all and tests-all approach employed by many, this platform introduces a laser-focused approach to an athlete’s performance data, identifying the key areas of deficiency so any product and program recommendations will effectively and efficiently address those specific concerns. This is only the beginning.”

After the session, participants will meet with Athletes’ Performance trainers to review their results. Athletes will be given unprecedented visibility to their performance data, including visual feedback and analysis that they can use to define strengths and weaknesses. They will also be educated on how to best use that data along with SLKZ products and Athletes’ Performance training programs to enhance their performance and achieve their personal goals.
