Meet ATX Lacrosse from Texas

ATX Lacrosse

We want to introduce you to a brand new lacrosse club, ATX Lacrosse, in Austin, Texas. ATX Lacrosse was created by Bill Cafferata and Artie Chavez for summer travel teams, camps, and private lessons. They just launched their first team last month and had their first tournament this weekend at the Big Easy Classic in New Orleans (put on by Pattison Sports Group near Philadelphia). With a team of 15 (mostly 8th and 9th graders) they went 3-1 and finished 5th overall in the high school division.

ATX Lacrosse is looking to do this in order to grow the game in central TX. It is getting there, but they still lag behind Dallas and Houston within the state. However, ATX is giving players an opportunity to work on their games year-round and get better. We are extremely impressed by what ATX has been able to accomplish is such a short period of time.

You can check ATX out on facebook.com/atxlacrosse and twitter, @atxlacrosse.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
