Lacrosse Fight: Where and When Did This Happen

Lacrosse Fight: Where and When Did This Happen
#bodyslam

This video just popped up on our inbox. It’s a clear call to action to end violence in lacrosse. However, we have no idea when and where this video was filmed. The overly-aggressive move in this video is disgusting. Indoor lacrosse, like hockey, accepts violence. We also tend to accept it (because it’s a part of the game) until the culture has a radical change. Canadians, especially, need to clean up their act. Certain bruisers should seek counseling. #daddyissues.

Lacrosse dies a death when players turn into assassins, sticks are used as weapons and officials turn a blind eye…stop the violence before someone’s life is ruined…”This Isn’t Lacrosse” Press Like if you stand up against violence in Lacrosse to help stop this kind of madness from continuing.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.

LOL its no coincidence either that someone named “Bradley Ryder Owens” is the author of this article either. Less BroCulture, more hard nose sport. Thats what lacrosse needs. Leave the pastels and the pinnies at the prep schools

As an one of the few American box lacrosse players who has played in canada in the CLA, PLEASE STOP COMMENTING ABOUT BOX LACROSSE IF YOU HAVE NEVER PLAYED.

This isnt field lacrosse, this isnt some blue blooded elite rich kids game for pansy’s. This is box lacrosse. The people crying about violence are the same people who think american football should be banned.

Maybe your kid should wear a helmet on the way to school too, because you never know what will happen. If you don’t like it, don’t play. If you don’t want the sport of indoor lacrosse to receive attention because of its violence DONT WRITE ARTICLE ABOUT IT POSTING VIDEOS.

Box lacrosse has had these rules since its inception, just as hockey has had fighting since its inception. These are canadian sports. Deal with it people. Up there they dont try and make entitled cry babys, they try and make men.

You people are what ruin lacrosse this is completely necessary, I bet you both teams were hacking at each other all game, I play Junior in the Westcoast Lacrosse League and this is childs play compared to what happens here. Lacrosse is a game of war if you can’t withstand it please get the fuck out we don’t want you. The reason lacrosse is like this is because of no fighting. Before when a player was a dick you assign one of the team fighters to take him out and teach him a lesson, after which both teams understand and the game goes on. Now since the fighting ban players can literally do all they want. One of the things we do in our league is get the worst player on the team to go chop their best offensemen in the neck or knees as hard as he can to take him out and guess what he only gets a 2 minute or a 4 at most and no one on their team is allowed to fight to defend themself or a teammate. So blame the CLA they ruined the one of the greatest sports in the world.

i play in new york with some pretty rough teamates and i hate the instigators in sports. its a shame that more people join the fights then try to stop them before people get hurt. in this case, despite who was wrong, no one should intentionally hurt another player.

  13. John O' Connor on July 26, 2013 at 12:23 pm

I really don’t understand why a player would act like that. I see people putting blame on the CLA for banning fighting but why is there fights? Why does box lacrosse except dirty chippy play. Maybe harsher in game penalties and out of game penalties (game and season bans) should be called for. When the game is physical but clean it is at its best!!!

If I hqd a camera every time something like this happened when I was playing, these posts would be a lot more frequent. I blame the CLA completely for screwing with something that is not broken but this is no reason to post this on a major lacrosse site giving all Canadians a bad reputation.

Yeah, this took place in my game Sunday. We (Montreal) are an English team playing in a French league. We went 12 and 2 this season as we are all lacrosse players — not assassins. We have faced these actions all year (Including knees to the head and cross-checks to the heads of our members who have lost their helmets). It was absolutely unnecessary. It was an all-out act of aggression. This one just happened to have been caught on tape.

The kid got only a 2 minute penalty for it and the league thinks there is nothing wrong with it. this was game 2 of best of 5 series and we were winning the game 9-5 at the time of this. Our coach has decided to forfit the rest of the playoffs as the league is not taking any action for this and before someone gets more injuried from this team!

Increase in dirty chippy play like this is a result of the CLA removing fighting from the game. Shots to the head have been happening all season long across jr and sr lacrosse. Tools like this take advantage of the fact there is no honor left in lacrosse. in the past someone would have already stepped in to defend the other player before the suplex could have happened. That being said there is a reason a number of good Canadians shine in NCAA and it’s their ability to get inside and take the abuse that sets them apart. Canadians play good, hard lacrosse but lumping all of them in with this persons action is just wrong.

Pretty obvious that this is in the province of Quebec, Canada. At the start there is the Canadian flag hanging above the scoreboard, and since everything is in french it has to be in Quebec.. Anybody could have picked up that they clearly are not speaking english

Windsor, quebec near Maine border. Google search of Yvon Paquin (sign nearest fallen player) shows he’s located there.

What a dick head. There was no need for that, and if you can tell me how that was necessary, I’ll laugh and talk about how big of a dick head you are.
