Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney Set for MLL Championship Weekend

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh men’s lacrosse alumni Cameron and Roman Lao-Gosney will bring their Hamilton Nationals to Major League Lacrosse’s Championship Weekend at PPL Park in Chester, Pa. Hamilton will face defending champion Chesapeake in Saturday’s second semifinal.

Hamilton and Chesapeake both finished the regular season with identical 9-5 records, including a split of the season series. Opening faceoff is set for 4 p.m. on CBS Sports Network. That’s after the Denver Outlaws put their perfect 14-0 record on the line against the 7-7 Charlotte Hounds at 1 p.m. on ESPN2.

Cameron has played in eight games this season with two goals, an assist, groundball, 13 shots and eight shots on goal. He finished his Lehigh career with 111 points behind 77 goals and 34 assists. The two-time All-Patriot League honoree posted 35 points as a junior and 22 as a senior in leading the Mountain Hawks to their first-ever Patriot League Tournament Championship and NCAA Tournament berth.

Roman enjoyed a breakout senior season at Lehigh and it’s carried over into the professional ranks. He has played in 12 of Hamilton’s 14 games this season with two goals, three assists and nine groundballs. Roman posted 26 points as a senior at Lehigh (20 goals, six assists) to earn All-America honors. He impressed in the classroom as well, earning Academic All-Patriot League honors. Roman finished his collegiate career with 47 goals and 22 assists.

The Lao-Gosneys have proved valuable in the professional game as two-way midfielders who can play both offense and defense. They were both recently named to the tryout pool for the U.S. National Team and will try out for Team USA from Aug. 30 through Sept. 1 at Goucher College in Baltimore.

Should Hamilton win Saturday, the Nationals would play for their second MLL Title on Sunday. Faceoff Sunday is set for 3 p.m. on ESPN2.
