US Lacrosse Brings 2014 WCLA National Championships, presented by Harrow Sports, to Virginia Beach

BALTIMORE, Sept. 23, 2013 — US Lacrosse has named Virginia Beach, Va., as host city for the 2014 US Lacrosse Women’s Collegiate Lacrosse Associates (WCLA) National Championships, presented by Harrow Sports. The Princess Anne Athletic Complex and Stadium will be the host site for the event, May 7-10, 2014.

The WCLA, a collegiate, non-varsity league, consists of more than 225 women’s teams from across the country. The teams compete in 10 leagues that host roughly 4,500 players in two divisions. The Division I and Division II National Championships host 16 and 12 teams, respectively.

“The City of Virginia Beach is excited for the opportunity to host the 2014 WCLA National Championships and US Lacrosse,” said Matthew Robinette, sports marketing events supervisor for the Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau. “Our community is known not only for our wide beaches, great views, and nationally ranked boardwalk, but also for our world class sporting facilities. The fields are ready, the beach will be sandy, the sun shining, and our community smiling to welcome the event to Virginia Beach.”

“We are fortunate to have had the Colorado Springs Convention and Visitors Bureau, as well as Colorado Springs Youth Sports, Inc., as our hosts for the past two years,” said Beth Porreca, director of special events at US Lacrosse. “The enthusiasm the Virginia Beach Convention and Visitors Bureau has for hosting the 2014 WCLA National Championships is contagious, and we look forward to working together to put on a first-class event.”

The US Lacrosse WCLA National Championships began in 2001 and have previously been hosted in St. Louis, Minneapolis, Dallas, Denver, Scottsdale and Colorado Springs.

Harrow Sports has been a sponsor of the event since 2010 and is the presenting sponsor of the 2014 US Lacrosse WCLA National Championships.
