Colorado State Lacrosse Names 2014 Captains

Fort Collins, CO – The Colorado State University Rams men’s lacrosse team has named its captains for the upcoming 2014 season. Seniors Kacy Carter, Jack Regan, Tim Miaskiewicz and junior Jack Curry were chosen by their teammates to lead a program coming off back to back MCLA national championships in 2012 and 2013.

Carter, an attackman from Rock Canyon High School in Highlands Ranch, CO, was a 49 goal scorer in 2013 and has established himself as one of the premiere finishers in the MCLA. The senior has registered at least a point in all but two games over the past two years and was named an MCLA honorable mention all-American in 2013.

Regan becomes the first goaltender to be named captain for the Rams since 2006. As one of the netminders in CSU’s two-goalie system, the senior from Sunset High School in Beaverton, OR has steadily improved over the past two seasons. Regan posted a 71% save percentage in 2013 and did not allow a goal in his half of action in the MCLA championship game.

After two seasons as a close defender, Miaskiewicz made the transition to long-stick midfield in 2013 and became an integral part of the team’s defensive success. The senior from Mullen High School in Denver, CO scooped up 58 groundballs and scored a goal in 2013. He will be one of the elder statesmen on a defense ravaged by graduation, likely returning to close defense for his final season.

Finally, Curry, a redshirt junior short-stick defensive midfielder, rounds out CSU’s captains for 2014. Curry hails from Langley, VA and is one of the top defensive specialists in the country. The speedy d-middie contributes in a big way on face-off wings and man-down situations. He is one of the best athletes on the team and the Rams will lean on him to take away midfield dodging threats all year long.

Colorado State concludes its fall season with a tournament at the University of Northern Colorado on October 19. The Rams will face off against NCAA Division II Adams State University, MCLA Division II Northern Colorado and perennial rival University of Colorado, a team the Rams beat 7-2 in the MCLA championship game of 2013. A complete schedule of events will be located on www.csulacrosse.com.
