Florida Launch to play at FAU Stadium in Boca Raton

BOSTON (January 30, 2014) – Major League Lacrosse, the premier outdoor lacrosse league, announced today that the Florida Launch will call FAU Stadium its home for the 2014 season. The MLL’s newest team will play all of its seven home games at the venue, bringing professional lacrosse back to FAU after two successful events in 2012 and 2013.

“We are pleased to have the Launch play at FAU Stadium,” said MLL Commissioner David Gross. “MLL has hosted some successful events there and the facility is a perfect fit for the team’s inaugural season.”

MLL took the 2012 All-Star Game to FAU Stadium and the overwhelming success of the event prompted the league to return in 2013 with a regular season match between Hamilton and Rochester last June. Both events were designed to explore the viability of an MLL club in South Florida and the Launch was announced as a new team last November.

Season tickets for the inaugural season are now on sale and include all seven home games, as well as a 2014 playoff game, if hosted.  The Launch’s 2014 season tickets start at $172 for West Reserved Section and $212 for West Premier Section. The Launch is also offering the Sideline Launch Club, an exclusive on-field section of season tickets, for $412 per seat with only 120 seats available. Season tickets can be reserved online HERE, or by emailing inquiries totickets@floridalaunchlacrosse.com. Individual game tickets and Launch Suites for all seven home games will go on sale on Monday, March 3.

“Lacrosse is growing like wildfire here in the state of Florida,” said Launch Head Coach Stan Ross. “And with growth like that, FAU is a perfect location for our team to play where fans from all over central and south Florida can reach us easily. We are excited to start playing the top level of lacrosse in the country at FAU in only a few short months.”

The Palm Beach County Sports Commission, a not-for-profit organization contracted by Palm Beach County to promote and market the county as a sports and sports tourism destination, has been instrumental in bringing the team to FAU having supported the previous MLL events in the area.

“The expansion of Major League Lacrosse into Palm Beach County is a momentous occasion for our destination,” said Palm Beach County Sports Commission Executive Director George Linley. “The relationship between MLL and the Palm Beach County Sports Commission has been dynamic.  Working together to bring the MLL All Star game to FAU Stadium and Palm Beach County in June of 2012 is still paying dividends.   Bringing the Florida Launch to our community solidifies Palm Beach County as one of the premier sports destinations in the United States.  Lacrosse is the fastest growing participatory sport in Florida. The presence of Major League Lacrosse will encourage further growth and be a vehicle to bring more lacrosse events to our community.   We are excited to expand our partnership with Major League Lacrosse.”

“On behalf of Florida Atlantic University, I am excited to have Major League Lacrosse in our stadium,” said Director of Athletics Patrick Chun FAU. “Lacrosse is a thriving sport in South Florida. Our community will rally behind our home team the Florida Launch.”

The Launch currently has 35 players on its 2014 roster and will add five more players before the start of 2014 Training Camp, which begins in early April. The Launch will begin play at FAU Stadium onSaturday, April 26, hosting the 2013 regular-season-undefeated Denver Outlaws.
