WEST LONG BRANCH, N.J. – Monmouth University Men’s Lacrosse will host a youth clinic (grades 3-8) and fundraiser with proceeds benefitting the nonprofit organization Wounded Warrior Project® (WWP) on Saturday, April 26 at Monmouth Stadium, as the Hawks host Detroit in their regular season finale.
“We are honored and humbled to be joining forces with the Wounded Warrior Project to recognize as well as help spread awareness for all the men and women who have been injured while defending our country,” stated Monmouth head coach Brian Fisher.
“The sacrifices that we make in athletics pale in comparison to what our armed forces men and women sacrifice daily and the commitment they make to defend our freedom. They have our utmost respect and appreciation,” added Fisher.
The day’s events start with a FREE youth clinic (grades 3-8) from 10-11:15 a.m. on Kessler Field at Monmouth Stadium, sponsored by Trilogy Lacrosse and run by Trilogy National Directors Terry Mangan and Dave Madeira. All proceeds from the day will be donated to the nonprofit organization Wounded Warrior Project and will support a full range of programs and services for this generation of Wounded Warriors and their families.
Over 50,000 servicemen and women have been injured in the recent military conflicts. In addition to the physical wounds, it is estimated as many as 400,000 service members live with the invisible wounds of war including combat-related stress, major depression, and post-traumatic stress disorder. Another 320,000 are believed to have experienced a traumatic brain injury while on deployment. WWP’s 19 programs and services are uniquely structured to nurture the mind and body, and encourage economic empowerment and engagement.
