(4 September, 2014) Hong Kong – The Hong Kong Lacrosse Association (HKLA) has announced the establishment of the Hong Kong Lacrosse High Performance Programme (HPP).

This ongoing programme will serve as a way to identify and develop elite lacrosse players and centralize their training in preparation for local and international competitions. The HPP will consist of potential athletes for the Men’s and Women’s National Teams, as well as the Junior National Teams.

Louis Hou, Executive Director of the HKLA said with the goal to develop lacrosse in Hong Kong, this is an excellent opportunity for the future stars of Hong Kong Lacrosse to gain valuable knowledge, skill development and to compete at a high level.

“I am excited to provide the opportunity for Hong Kong lacrosse players to prepare for participation on their respective Hong Kong National Teams and success at the international level.” Helping to lead the HPP will be Scott Browning. Most recently, as Head Coach, Browning led the Men’s National Team to it’s best performance at the World Championships last July. He hopes to continue upon the improvements and see the same advancements in future international competitions.

“Congratulations to the HKLA on implementing the High Performance Programme. This is the next logical step to continue to develop and strengthen the calibre of lacrosse in Hong Kong for the World stage. I look forward to continuing to support the HKLA with this exciting programme”.

In addition to regular training sessions and competitions, the athletes will be competing to earn roster spots to represent Hong Kong in major international competitions which include the Under-19 Men’s World Championships (2016; Coquitlam, Canada), Women’s World Cup (2017; Guildford, England) and the Men’s World Championships (2018; Manchester, England).

Other upcoming regional tournaments, including, but not limited to, the Singapore Spectacular (November 7-9, 2014; Singapore) and the Asia Pacific Lacrosse Championships (July 4-11, 2015; Bangkok, Thailand).
