CSU Lacrosse Announces 2015 Schedule

Fort Collins, CO – The Colorado State University men’s lacrosse team has announced an aggressive 16 game schedule for 2015.  The Rams will make four regular season, out-of-state road trips and will play eight teams who attended the 2014 MCLA national tournament. The schedule includes the champions of five different MCLA conferences with the University of Colorado (RMLC), Boston College (PCLL), Michigan State (CCLA), Simon Fraser (PNCLL) and Arizona State (SLC) on the docket.  Colorado State will also play Florida State, the University of Connecticut and Texas State for the first time in team history.

The Rams have seven home dates, including RMLC foe Utah Valley and east coast power Boston College on February 28 and March 1 to open the home schedule.   A challenging stretch of four games in eight days awaits the Rams in mid-March as Sonoma State, Florida State, Grand Canyon and Chapman come to Fort Collins.  The game against Chapman on March 21 pits CSU against the team that bounced them from last year’s MCLA tournament in the quarterfinal round.

CSU hits the road four times in 2015, opening the season in Amarillo, TX for a double-header against UCONN and Texas State on February 21 and 22.   The Rams will compete once again in the Lacrosse Coaches vs. Cancer event onMarch 7 and 8 against Simon Fraser and Arizona State in Phoenix, AZ before venturing to Michigan on March 28 and 29 to take on CCLA powers Michigan State and Davenport.  The Rams face three RMLC league opponents in four days to close their regular season travel schedule against Brigham Young, Utah and Westminster College on April 9, 10 and 12 respectively.

Colorado State’s schedule culminates on April 18 with a huge RMLC clash against last year’s MCLA national champions and perennial rivals from Boulder, CO, the Colorado Buffaloes.  The Rams and Buffs will meet at Hughes Stadium in this year’s version of the Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Showdown.  CSU last hosted the game at their football stadium in 2013, when the Rams beat CU 8-3.  The two teams have combined to win each of the last three MCLA championships as CSU won back to back titles in 2012 and 2013 before Colorado won their first crown last season.

The Rocky Mountain Lacrosse Conference playoffs are scheduled for May 1 and 2 in Boulder, CO and the MCLA national tournament will be held once again in Southern California over the week of May 11 as UC-Irvine and Chapman University share hosting duties.

CSU kicks off scrimmage play on January 31 against NCAA Division III opponent Colorado College and then plays NCAA Division II Colorado Mesa University and MCLA Division II Northern Colorado on Valentine’s Day in Greeley, CO.
