Looking to increase the pace of play in the sport, the Men’s Lacrosse Rules Committee recommended a 30-second countdown for teams to take a shot after the referee has issued a stall warning. All rules recommendations by the committee, which met Monday-Thursday in Indianapolis, must be approved by the Playing Rules Oversight Panel, which is scheduled to meet via conference call in September. New Faceoff Rules Have Been Approved by NCAA; Down, Set, Cry

Starting in 2015, a visible clock can be used to time the 30-second stalling segment in facilities capable of displaying the clocks. The Playing Rules Oversight Panel on Friday approved rules changes in men’s lacrosse, including the establishment of a shot clock procedure that replaces the sport’s stall warning. In men’s lacrosse, panel members approved a proposal to adjust the stall warning procedure to include a 30-second timeframe for the offensive team to take a shot. Read More...

NCAA Rules Committee met earlier this month in Indianapolis to discuss possible adjustments to the college game that would enhance the pace of play. Proposals such as protocol referees will follow, changes to the stick specifications and substitutions made on the fly. But the most unconventional ones involved the face-off and restarts. Last week the Men’s Lacrosse Rules Committee recommended several new rules to be implemented for the upcoming 2013 season. While these are currently recommendations, we understand that each individual rule will be voted upon by the Playing Rules Oversight Panel at some point in September.
