“Responsible to the element, Accountable to the mission.” This quote is the 2014 Colgate Lacrosse mantra and is printed on the back of every team members practice shirt. Coach Murphy took this quote from Toughness by Jay Bilas; our team's mandatory summer reading. Read More...
On Sunday, all of the boys gathered at the Goosey Gander for the Selection Show. Due to the fact that we had the AQ, we were all anxious to find out who we were going to play. I had many versions of my “Schmackatology” trying to find out who we played, but with every upset it changed. As we sat there and awaited our fate, we finally found out that we would be heading down to Chapel Hill. Read More...
Since this will be my last blog I would like to thank everyone who has been reading the blog, I really appreciate the support you guys (mostly parents) gave me throughout the season. Also, I want to say thanks to my coaches and Lacrosse Playground who gave me the opportunity to write this piece, as it was a really unique and fun experience. Once again, thanks to everyone. The weekend we had preparing for all season was upon us, The Patriot League Tournament. As Coach Murphy said throughout the week, it’s a new season, everyone was starting 0-0. Despite what we would consider a sub par Patriot League regular season at 3-3, we had a chance to redeem ourselves over the weekend. There could be no better way to start our championship run than against our rivals the Lehigh Mountainhawks. Read More...
Last weekend was a special one for the fourteen members of our senior class, as we were all honored for Senior Day versus Lafayette. Lafayette, as many of you know, is our rival, and we were looking to go 4-0 against them in our careers. A goal for the lacrosse team, as well as the Lehigh Athletics Department in general, is to “Always defeat Lafayette.” We knew that although they didn’t have the best record, they were a very talented team and we would have to bring our “A” game to do so. The victory over Lafayette punched our ticket into the Patriot League Tournament, but the regular season was far from over with a rivalry matchup against Bucknell coming up on Saturday. Not only were we playing one of our old foes, but also we were celebrating Senior Day in what was our last home game this season at Andy Kerr Stadium. After spoiling Lafayette’s senior day last week, we didn’t want the same happening to our senior class on Saturday. Read More...
Last Friday night was a huge win. With the Regular Season Championship on the line, we were able to pull out the win over a very talented Bucknell team. As “Clarity” was bumping in the locker room after the win, and everyone was jumping up and down, it finally hit me; we would be hosting the Patriot League Tournament for the first time in school history. This is one of many of the firsts that we have accomplished since I have been here, and this was quite the turn around from my freshman year when we didn’t even qualify for the Patriot League Tournament. What a week it has been in Boston. It is hard to begin with a fun, lighthearted recap of our incredible senior game after such terrible, senseless acts that have just taken place at the Boston marathon. NBC Sports Network (@NBCSN) tweeted one of the best interpretations of fearless acts- “Reports of Marathon Runners that crossed finish line and continued to run to Mass General Hosptial to give blood to victims #prayforboston.” Read More...
Hello again, lacrosse fans, Notre Dame fans, and awesome blog fans. In this week’s adventure I take you inside yet another Notre Dame tradition. While the trip only takes place once every two years, it may be the most memorable team experience in my college career. Read More...
The loss to our rivals was a tough one, but the close decision gave us the confidence that we could beat anyone in our league. Next up would be a Saturday matchup with the Lafayette Leopards. A win would secure a birth into The Patriot League tournament, allowing us to compete for our season’s goal of winning a Patriot League Championship. Saturday’s matchup would give our team an opportunity to get back in the win column, and build momentum towards our important end of season games. Read More...
The winner will earn the right to host the 2013 Patriot League Tournament, which is huge. This has been a goal of ours all season, as Lehigh has never hosted before. Bucknell is a very talented team that is extremely well coached, so we know we will have our hands full. As Coach Cassese said, “This game is going to be an absolute tilt,” and I couldn’t agree more. After the loss to Army we were forced to regroup and recover for our upcoming game against the team from Bethlehem. Not much needed to be said to get us going for this one, as we were playing the team that took the Patriot League Championship away from us last year. That ring hanging above the entrance to our locker room all spring, that flag they stomped on our field, that was all we needed to motivate us throughout the week and on game day. Read More...
