BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Lehigh sophomore goalie Matt Poillon has been named Patriot League Goalie of the Year for a second straight season, while six others joined him as All-League honorees, as announced on Tuesday. WEST POINT, N.Y. - Senior Brian Hess paced the offense with his second-career hat trick while sophomore Matt Poillon made 12 saves between the pipes as the #15/16 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team topped Army 10-6 in its league opener Saturday. Last weekend was a special one for the fourteen members of our senior class, as we were all honored for Senior Day versus Lafayette. Lafayette, as many of you know, is our rival, and we were looking to go 4-0 against them in our careers. A goal for the lacrosse team, as well as the Lehigh Athletics Department in general, is to “Always defeat Lafayette.” We knew that although they didn’t have the best record, they were a very talented team and we would have to bring our “A” game to do so. Coming off our huge win over Penn State, our squad felt like we were firing on all cylinders. The offense was starting to get very comfortable together and the defense was really starting to step up. We felt like we had corrected our early season woes and were back on the right track. We returned to an empty campus as everyone else went to Punta Cana or some other tropical place like that. BETHLEHEM, Pa. - Riding two straight wins, the #15/16 Lehigh men’s lacrosse team looks for its first three-game winning streak of the season when it hosts UMass on Wednesday. Opening faceoff is set for 6 p.m. at the Ulrich Sports Complex and will air live nation-wide on ESPNU and WatchESPN as Warrior’s National Game of the Week. Mike Corey, Quint Kessenich and Paul Carcaterra are on the call.
