(July 22, 2014) TEMPE, Ariz. – Arizona State University Men’s Lacrosse announced that Joseph Thon of Rochester. NY, has been named as the new head coach. Thon is a 2007 graduate of Mercyhurst University in Erie, Pa., where he was a two-time NCAA Division II lacrosse All-America selection, and team captain, Academic All-American, Scholar Athlete of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year in 2007. The 2014 World Lacrosse Championships wrapped up on Saturday night with Canada defeating the United States. It wasn’t a historic or monumental upset, but is certainly an upset. Perhaps it’s fitting that in an era of growth and parity in the sport that the tournament ended the way it did. BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head men’s lacrosse coach and Team USA assistant Kevin Cassese is one win away from a gold medal at the 2014 World Lacrosse Championships. The United States faces rival Canada Saturday night at 9 p.m. ET (7 p.m. in Denver) in the championship game, live on ESPNU and WatchESPN. Cassese is looking for his second straight world title.
