Archbishop Spalding Lacrosse Signing Day

Archbishop Spalding Lacrosse Siging Day

Four Archbishop Spalding lacrosse players have signed their National Letter of Intent to play big time lacrosse. Head Coach Bear Davis states his excitement for his players.

Nathaniel Schilling – Defense – Hofstra University
Senior Men’s Varsity lacrosse player at Archbishop Spalding in Severn, MD. A close defender and starter for the team, Nate has played lacrosse for nine years getting his start with Gambrills Odenton Recreation Council (GORC), playing four summers with T2 Lacrosse, two summers with Propel. Nate will be studying Kinesiology at Hofstra University on Long Island next year.

Coach Bear Davis on Nate: Nate had the opportunity to cover everyone’s top attackmen last year as a junior. He has done a phenomenal job taking on that responsibility. Nate has continued to work hard and will be a great addition to Hofstra’s roster once he walks out Spalding’s doors for the last time.

Nick Kalas – Attack – Monmouth University
Senior attackman at Archbishop Spalding High School in Severn, MD. Has a 3.5 GPA. Member of varsity team since sophomore year. I attended the top 205 camp. I played for the Cavalier Lacrosse Club and Severn River Lacrosse Club this past summer. I played in the Baltimore Summer Kick Off, MVP Team Camp, and the 3D/FLG tournament. Made the all-star games at MVP team camp and 3D/FLG. Also played for the Academy Mortgage team at Lake Placid this past summer.

Coach Bear Davis on Nick: I am very happy that Nick found a home at Monmouth. He is a hard worker who deserves a quality opportunity to prove himself at the highest level. I anticipate his game to continue to grow and look forward to working with him in his last year at Spalding.

Tim Leavitt – Midfield- Mt. St. Mary’s University
A senior from Crofton, MD, completed his commitment to play lacrosse at Mount St. Mary’s University at the Archbishop Spalding Men’s Lacrosse National Signing Day ceremony on November 14, 2012. A 6’3′, 195-lb two-way midfielder, Leavitt has been a varsity letter-winner since his sophomore year for the MIAA A Conference Cavaliers. Also a three-year football player, Leavitt will enter his final campaign this spring for Spalding’s Coach Bear Davis, before matriculating to the Coach Tom Gravante led Mount St. Mary’s Mountaineers in August, 2013.

Coach Bear Davis on Tim: Tim has really grown over the past year. He was primarily a defensive mid for us last year where he has shown flashes of dominance. He has worked very hard on his stick work and will prove to be a threat on the offensive side this year as well. We are very excited about Tim’s senior year and what is to come.

Will Hirschman – Midfield – University of Delaware
Will played varsity lacrosse at Archbishop Spalding High School for 3 years, and was a member of T2 Storm lacrosse, an Annapolis area club team, for 6 years. Will was named 1st team All Arundel County in his junior year of high school, was on Free state in both 2011 and 2012, and was chosen to be a member of the DC Under Armour team in 2012. Will is excited to attend the University of Delaware and study in the Alfred Lerner College of Business and Economics. He was immediately impressed by both the coaching staff and the campus, and he is looking forward to being a part of the 2013-2014 squad.

Coach Bear Davis on Will: Will is very dynamic athlete and finds a way to make plays happen. As Will continues to grow his knowledge of the game he will become a well-rounded force. We anticipate big things from will this spring.
