Big Kahuna Lacrosse Tournament to Debut in Florida

Five highly respected men’s lacrosse organizations are joining forces to establish a club tournament that has the potential to become one of the biggest and greatest in the United States. Aloha Tournaments, Cottle Lacrosse, Hogan Lax, Premier Players and the Florida Possums Lacrosse Club have merged their combined expertise and resources to create the inaugural Big Kahuna Lacrosse Tournament, which will be held Dec. 11-12 in Wellington, Fla.

“There are so many good tournaments out there. However, none of them have the upside potential of Big Kahuna,” said Dave Cottle, one of the most successful head coaches in the history of Division I men’s lacrosse. “All the elements are in place to make this one of the best events in the nation, and that is what we plan to do.”

Big Kahuna will be held on the International Polo Fields at the Palm Beach Polo Club. A fabulous facility that also includes golf courses, championship-caliber tennis center, state-of-the-art fitness complex and croquet lawns, the Palm Beach Polo Club lives up to its billing as the place “where the world comes to play.” Most importantly, its spacious polo fields provide the perfect setting for a top-notch lacrosse tournament.

“We have the capacity to set up 36 Bermuda grass fields and the opportunity to hold the largest lacrosse tournament in the country,” said Chris Hutchins of Aloha Tournaments. “We are very confident this tourney will take off because the location is absolutely phenomenal.”

The International Polo Fields at Palm Beach Polo Club are conveniently located in close proximity to the West Palm Beach Airport and first-class hotel accommodations abound within the immediate area.

“The December time frame will not only provide great weather, but also allow for cheaper travel. It is the ideal opportunity for lacrosse players in cold-weather states to get away to a warm, sunny environment and shake the rust from their lacrosse sticks,” said Matt Hogan of Hogan Lacrosse. “We are expecting to have great competition for all age and skill levels with teams from all over the country coming to this pristine environment and optimal site.”

The Palm Beach Sports Commission is solidly behind the Big Kahuna Tournament and will assist club programs with finding accommodations. There will be competitive divisions for High School A and B, Under-15 A and B, Under-13 A and B along with Under-11. Teams and individuals interested in competing at the Big Kahuna Lacrosse Tournament should visit BigKahunaLax.com.

“When parents, players and program directors see this stunning site, they will be blown away. There cannot be a better location for club lacrosse in the entire country,” said Tom West of the Florida Possums Lacrosse Club.
