Who designed your cleats and when did you decide you wanted your cleats customized?

Well i have a buddy of mine from back home in Ridley, Pat Casey, who has been customizing sneakers for a couple years now. His company is Casey Custom Sneakers. He has some incredible and amazing ideas in which he puts into the sneakers, and I wanted him to try them on spikes, and we talked about customizing a pair for an ESPN game while I was with the Philadelphia Barrage, but never got around to it in time. And now there is going to be a few events coming up in which I’ll have a few different customized sneakers. SO this is almost a sample pair with a strong an special meaning behind them.

Is there a special meaning behind the designs on the kicks?

I coach a 5th and 6th grade lacrosse team called “TEAM RELENTLESS,” and its a team based out of Orange County, Ca. The goal at the beginning was to give a group of players an opportunity to learn and play the game at the highest level for their age and represent a cause, HeadStrong Foundation, that would help and promote blood cancer awareness. So the blue and lime green “bandanna” designs represent the colors of our team and most importantly, lime green is the color of Nicks Cancer, Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma, and a vicious type of blood cancer that affects the lymphatic system. So I wanted to have a special meaning behind them and there is. The weird orange color also represents the Philadelphia Barrage, which was one of; if not the best team I have ever played on and won 2 World Championships with.

When is the Hawaii tournament and what are you looking forward to the most?

The Hawaii tournament is the weekend of Halloween, and it is a Lacrosse tournament in paradise. It’s played right in Waikiki, Hawaii which is on the Oahu island. You play your games right at the bottom of Diamondhead Mountain, which is a gorgeous site to see, let alone play lacrosse at the bottom of it.

Can you elaborate a little more on your particular connection to the HeadStrong Foundation?

Yes, I was really good friends with Nick Collelouri. We both went to the same high school, played both football and lacrosse together. As a sophomore at Hofstra University, I had the chance to host Nick as my recruit and show him around campus, take him to a couple different classes, one being my Ceramics class haha which he loved. He soon signed with Hofstra and before we knew it, we were commuting back an forth from school to home and grew a pretty amazing relationship. In high school, he was 2 years younger but I never had the chance to really get to know him as a person. We had some incredible conversations about anything and everything there was to know about lacrosse, college, and about life.

Are you still playing pro? If so, which teams (MLL, NLL)?

Well I took the year off of MLL this summer to coach my lil guys as I refer to them as, “TEAM RELENTLESS” in Orange County, Ca. I also took the winter off of the Philadelphia Wings, as I am looking to get back into it this winter which is very exciting as I have missed the chance to compete at the highest level of lacrosse and cannot wait to have some fun playing again.
