Brine National Lacrosse Classic Announces Regional Tryouts And 2014 Tournament Dates

Baltimore, MD, Oct. 3, 2013 – Celebrating its seventh year of bringing the nation’s top middle and high school lacrosse players together for a three-day event of competition and camaraderie, the Brine National Lacrosse Classic will be held on June 30 – July 3, 2014 at the Maryland SoccerPlex.  The Boyds, Maryland venue has housed this elite tournament since 2006, when it debuted to offer select players a higher level of play as well as exposure to NCAA collegiate lacrosse coaches from every division.

Leading up to the Brine National Lacrosse Classic are regional tryouts held in key markets across the country to find the best talent to spotlight at the national event.  2014 registration is now open, with the first tryout scheduled for December 8 at Cedar Creek in Seaford, NY.  For details on registration, visit www.nationallacrosseclassic.com.

In 2013, more than 5,000 players attended Brine regional tryouts.  Of this talent pool, 1,300 middle and high school boys and girls from 32 states were selected to participate in the 2013 Brine National Lacrosse Classic facilitated by more than 100 coaches from top programs in the nation.

“Lacrosse is one of the fastest-growing team sports in the US, and the Brine National Lacrosse Classic ensures we have coverage at the elite athletic level,” said Grant Wasch, Retail and Event Marketing Manager for Brine Warrior Sports.  “Our tagline ‘National recognition starts here’ shows our commitment to recognizing key performers for their current accomplishments and positioning them for future academic and athletic success on a much higher level.”

“More than 25 former Brine National Lacrosse Classic players participated in the 2013 NCAA Division 1 Men’s Lacrosse Championship, with a total of 79 playing in the first round and quarterfinals,” added Wasch.  “This truly demonstrates the potential for the middle and high school boys and girls competing in our tournament.”

Introduced this year as qualifying events for the Brine National Lacrosse Classic, Brine National Pride Games were held in Florida, Maryland, Ohio, Pennsylvania and New England.  High school players demonstrating the highest potential at local tryouts were selected to advance to these regional- or state-level showcase tournaments where they competed against similarly skilled players for the opportunity to represent their hometowns, states, regions and schools at the 2013 Brine National Lacrosse Classic.  Along with the five areas from last year, Brine National Pride Games will be held this year in Michigan, Long Island, New Jersey and New York.
