Bryant Lacrosse Welcomes 15 Newcomers in 2012

SMITHFIELD, R.I. – Bryant University head coach Mike Pressler is pleased to announce the addition of 15 student-athletes to the Bulldog men’s lacrosse roster for the 2012 season. The 14-member Class of 2015 and one junior transfer add depth and skill and look to have an immediate impact on the program in its second season with full NCAA eligibility.

“After 20 practices and one fall event [The Catamount Classic], we have a much better handle on what our 15 newcomers bring to the table,” said Pressler. “We are pleased to see we have added depth at every position, and there is no doubt that some of these freshmen will have a major impact on this coming season.”

Junior transfer Cody Isdaner (Gladwyne, Pa.) headlines the touted group of first-year Bulldogs. Isdaner comes to Bryant from Northeast Conference foe Wagner College, where he paced the Seahawks’ offense each of his first two seasons, including earning an NEC All-Rookie Team selection in 2010.

“Of all of our newcomers, it’s no secret that junior transfer Cody Isdaner is poised to be one of the most influential,” said Pressler, citing Isdaner’s two years of both Division I and NEC experience. “He has come in and made a very positive impression on both his teammates and coaches starting from Day 1 this fall.”

Isdaner, an attacker, is a nice compliment to an already offensive-minded Class of 2015, whose ranks feature five attackers and three midfielders, with three defensemen, a pair of goalies and a faceoff specialist to cover every position on the field.

“As we begin our fourth and final year of the Division I transition, it is truly exciting to walk into the locker room and see that, for the first time, all four classes have been recruited in the Division I model,” said Pressler. “We are thrilled to welcome these 15 men of character, competitive spirit and academic prowess to the Ocean State.”

The Bryant University men’s lacrosse program will play its second season as a full member of the Division I ranks and fourth with a full DI schedule in 2012. The Northeast Conference enters its second season sponsoring men’s lacrosse and its last season without an automatic bid into the NCAA tournament. The Bulldogs are, however, eligible for an NCAA Division I tournament at-large bid. The NEC will earn an automatic bid into the national tournament beginning in 2013.
