BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh head men’s lacrosse coach Kevin Cassese will head to Naples, Florida this weekend to coach the Red, White and Blue in the Champions Challenge. The team has been broken up into Blue and White squads, which will square off on Saturday, Jan. 17 at 1 p.m. Cassese’s involvement with U.S. Lacrosse continues to grow as he’ll also be a guest speaker at the U.S. Lacrosse Convention which is set for Jan. 23-25 in Baltimore, Md.

The rosters for Saturday’s Champions Challenge can be found here. Making up the teams include some of the most talented lacrosse players in the world, including Rob Pannell, Paul Rabil, David Lawson and more.

Cassese was a United States assistant coach for the World Lacrosse Championships as the U.S. advanced to the championship game in dominant fashion before falling to Canada. The Red, White and Blue are 58-4 all-time in the World Championships with their last world title coming in 2010 behind a 12-10 championship-game win over Canada. Cassese played that year, and was a team captain.

In addition, Cassese and Penn State head coach Jeff Tambroni coached the U.S. in the Seatown Classic in October where the United States defeated Notre Dame in Seattle. Cassese has coached the U.S. in the Champions Challenge before, last in 2012 which ironically, was also against Notre Dame.

Cassese will return to campus for Sunday when the current Mountain Hawks open preseason practice as they prepare for the 2015 season which begins on Feb. 7 against Marquette. Check back too Lehighsports.com for updates as the season approaches. Lehigh is looking to advance to a fourth straight Patriot League Championship Game and win a third title in that span. The Mountain Hawks are also looking to advance to the NCAA Tournament for the third time in four years.
