If there’s one word to describe the 2013 NCAA men’s lacrosse season, it’s unpredictability. That was certainly on display this weekend at Lincoln Financial Field. Coming into the weekend, a strong argument could be made that Cornell and Denver were the favorites to advance to Monday’s Championship Game, but in the end, it was Duke and Syracuse that prevailed. Greg Griffo Becomes Tampa’s First Lacrosse All-American, Full Division II All-American List Included



TAMPA, Fla. – University of Tampa men’s lacrosse standout Greg Griffo has been named an honorable mention All-American by the United States Intercollegiate Coaching Association (USILA). He becomes the first player in program history to earn the honor. Griffo, a senior from Babylon, N.Y., recently concluded his Spartan career as the team’s leading scorer. In 16 games, he netted 28 goals and 10 assists, including a pair of game-winning goals. He registered at least one points in 14 games this season. Read More…

Griffo Wins Player of the Year; Spartans Place Nine on DSC All-Conference Team



WINGATE, N.C. – The University of Tampa men’s lacrosse team won its second straight Deep South Conference regular season title and Monday nine players were named to the DSC All-Conference Team.

For the second straight year, Greg Griffo was a first-team selection for the Spartans. Joey McMahan, Jasper Gantick, Eric Dance, Larry Gress, and Trevor Calleja were named second-team All-DSC, while Joseph Fiorucci, Kyle Hemrick, and Ryan Becker received honorable mention recognition. Read More…

Griffo Scores Late Goals to Lift Spartans Past Bears



HICKORY, N.C. – In a game with five lead changes and eight ties, Greg Griffo scored two goals in the final three minutes to give the University of Tampa men’s lacrosse team a 13-11 win over deep south conference opponent Lenoir-Rhyne Saturday afternoon at Moretz stadium. With the win the Spartans improve to 8-4 overall and 5-1 in conference play, while the Bears fall to 8-5 and 5-2 in the DSC. Read More…

University of Tampa to Dedicate New 90,000 Square-Foot Field, Lacrosse Complex



TAMPA, Fla. – The University of Tampa will dedicate the Naimoli Family Athletic and Intramural Complex on Kennedy Boulevard on Friday, April 5 at 7:25 p.m. The first men’s lacrosse game on the new field will follow immediately at 8 p.m., versus Rollins College. The dedication will begin with a ribbon cutting at the front of the stadium. UT President Ronald L. Vaughn and other campus and community leaders will speak. Then, at 7:45 p.m., special guests, including lead donor Vince Naimoli, will be recognized with a special on-field dedication.
