NHL Lockout Will Have Little To No Impact On NLL Attendance

Following the expiration of the National Hockey League’s collective bargaining agreement, a month prior to beginning of the 2012–13 NHL season, owners declared a lockout. The NHL season is supposed to start October 11. The season will not happen at least anytime soon. So…this leaves all of the lacrosse fans, writers, players and announcers wondering, “Will the NHL lockout help NLL attendance?” History shows there’s no conclusive evidence that it will help attendance. A total of 56 players heard their name called at the 2012 NLL Entry Draft at the Westin Harbour Castle in Toronto on Monday night. Tri-State Lacrosse Launches Canadian Style Box Lax Program



Hightstown, NJ – September 21, 2012 – Tri-State Lacrosse today announced the launch of the Eagle Indoor Lacrosse Association a Canadian style box lacrosse program for high school lacrosse players. The Eagle Indoor Lacrosse Association will train and play games this fall and winter under the guidance and supervision of Ginny Capicchioni at Turf City in Wayne, NJ. Capicchioni has the distinction of being the first women to play in a men’s professional lacrosse league in 2003; the first American-born goalie to play in a Canadian box lacrosse championship and the first female to be selected to the US men’s national team. Lehigh’s Taylor leads Mountaineers to Box Lacrosse Championship

BETHLEHEM, Pa. – Lehigh attackman Dan Taylor posted four goals and an assist in a decisive Game 7 Tuesday night to lead his Calgary Mountaineers to the Alberta Junior A Box Lacrosse Championship. The rising sophomore led the league in points (53) and assists (32) these playoffs while tying for third in goals (21). Bandits re-sign John Tavares to one year contract

Buffalo Bandits Director of Lacrosse Operations Scott Loffler today announced the team has signed All-Pro forward John Tavares to a one-year contract. Tavares earned a league-record 18th All-Pro nod last season by finishing second in the NLL with 41 goals, including a league-leading 21 power play goals, while ranking seventh with 80 points (41+39) in 2012. The Mississauga, ON native led the Bandits in goals, assists and points this year and has now led the team in scoring in 17 of his 21 seasons. Read More…
