Fairfield Men’s Lacrosse Player Blog, Hofstra…INTENSE

fairfield lacrosse

A good amount of the guys on the team are from Long Island (including myself) so it was definitely one we had circled on the schedule. We started off hot, but Hofstra kept coming and before you knew it, it was 9-9 at the end of regulation. OT felt like forever (#goalieproblems) with both teams getting chances, especially after I threw away a pass right to one of their attackmen. If they came down and scored on that I might have hung up the jock strap and retired on the spot. Read More…

Texas Men’s Lacrosse Player Blog, DOGFIGHT

texas lacrosse

Amigos, glad to send out the first of many blog posts from the University of Texas Division 1 (Club) Lacrosse team! We just had a huge weekend. Between having the biggest win in the team’s history, beating #2 ranked Arizona State in a straight up DOGFIGHT 4-3 in New Orleans for the Allstate Sugar Bowl Lacrosse game, being guaranteed an invitation back for next year, and having one hell of a time in the hours following the win, we could not have asked for anything better. Following a strong performance from the team against Vermont, we came into the locker room on Monday ready to work. Kevin Gordon had just been awarded Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week, the coaches announced that John Donnally and Rob Grabher were our players of the game in the win, and Aaron Darr was recognized with the lunch pail for his great job in the prior week of practice. Morgan State Men’s Lacrosse Player Blog, Big Mike the Morgan State Grizzly

morgan state lacrosse

Even though I played my summer ball with BlaxLax, an inner-city lax group; Morgan was a real culture shock for me. It was like the game slowed down, but I couldn’t catch up. It was a different type of lacrosse like the difference between Baltimore city public schools and the MIAA. No offense to the athletes, that’s just how it is. The amazing thing was; no matter how many people had played the game before or even knew what the game was about, they were willing to put on pads and find out. Read More…

Occidental College Men’s Lacrosse 2012 Player Blog, Making it Count

occidental college lacrosse

Arriving on campus that fall, I had already made a few connections with members of the lacrosse program. Duncan helped me move into my room and get settled in on campus. That first weekend here, he took me out with him to meet and hang out with all his friends on the team. From there I hit the ground running and started training with and developing strong friendships with my new teammates. The strong chemistry we were building off the field began to directly correlate with our budding chemistry on the field. Read More…

Not much can be said about our performance on Saturday against a visiting Villanova team. Disappointing, frustrating, embarrassing…all fitting words to describe the outcome of the game. With the amount of excitement and opportunism that flourished in practice last week, to come out and lose the way we did was discouraging to say the least. In discouraging times like these, though, there’s only one thing a team can do…move forward. Read More…

Fairfield Men’s Lacrosse Player Blog, That DUUDE

fairfield lacrosse

Studman Sam [Snow] did his west coast thing with 5 goals on the day and got the broadway hat (#NYR). Also that DUUDE #44 Johnny Snell[man] had a couple of snipes. He’s been shooting well all spring so that comes as no surprise. As for Brent Adams, well he’s just Brent enough said kids – does it all. Read More…

Game Photos: Colgate Men’s Lacrosse 2012 Player Blog, Heart Power

The first page of the packet (usually an overview of the game and inspiration) had a quote from Vince Lombardi, “Once a man has made a commitment to a way of life, he puts the greatest strength in the world behind him. It’s something we call heart power. Once a man has made this commitment,
nothing will stop him short of success.” This game would be about our heart power and not letting anything get in our way from winning the game. Read More…

Howard University Club Lacrosse Player Blog, White Kid on an All Black Lacrosse Team

howard university lacrosse team

Classes began a month ago for Howard University students, which meant practices began as well for all the athletes. This is my first year at HU, coming from a New Jersey high school powerhouse (Bridgewater-Raritan, NJ) it’s been a really tough adjustment for me to be at a school that doesn’t support their lacrosse team. The team is entirely funded by the players; we pay for everything, Balls, goals, equipment, Uniforms, field time, referees, league fees, and more. Read More…

Detroit Mercy Men’s Lacrosse 2012 Player Blog, Entry 2

I believe the true test of a great team is how they respond to adversity. It is not until the chips are down and there doesn’t seem to be any light at the end of the tunnel, do you see the true colors of a team come out. Obviously last Saturday was a bit of a setback when considering the end result. We had an exciting first half entering the locker room tied at 4-4, but found ourselves up against a wall for the third quarter and ultimately the rest of the game. Read More…
