CORTLAND, NY — For the first time in the program’s illustrious history, the RIT (19-2) men’s lacrosse team will play for the NCAA Division III Men’s Lacrosse national title thanks to Allister Warren (Toronto, Ontario/Malvern Collegiate Institute)’s overtime goal with 1:55 left, giving the Tigers a 10-9 win over top seeded and previously undefeated SUNY Cortland (19-1) in the semifinals on Sunday. The Stanford Cardinal and the Sonoma State Seawolves met in the WCLL Championship lacrosse game in Novato. Sonoma led 4-2 in the second quarter and 6-4 at the end of the third quarter, but Stanford launched a comeback and outscored Sonoma 4-1 in the fourth to upset Sonoma 8-7 to win the Western Collegiate Lacrosse League championship for the first time since 1982.
