The remaining minutes were shared by 1/c Michael Cooper (Baltimore, Md./Boy’s Latin) and 3/c Jacob Lee (Coronado, Calif./Coronado), who had two saves and no goals against.

WPI got on the board first less than a minute into the game – which was no surprise, as the Bearshave made a habit of giving up an early goal – they have trailed 1-0 in every game this season. The Bears then rattled off four answered goals to put themselves in front 4-1 at the end of the first quarter.

The Bears found the back of the net four more times in the second period and took an 8-1 leadinto halftime. In the second half, the Coast Guard offense came to life – tacking on eight more goals in the period to lead 16-1. The Bears added one more goal in the fourth and final frame. The Engineers registered their final two goals of the evening late in the quarter.

The four man close-defense rotation of 1/c Tim Wyderko (Detroit, Mich./Orchard Lake St. Mary’s), 1/c Conor Breckenridge (San Francisco , Calif./Novato), 1/c James Fennessey (Milton, Mass./Milton) and 2/c Nick Fredericksen (Nashua, N.H./Nashua South) played exceptionally well throughout. The poles were “on the offensive” as Wyderko registered a goal, while Fennessey handed out a fast-break assist.

Coast Guard will head back to New London and is back in action on Friday, April 5th at 7:00PM against the University of New Haven (3-2) at Cadet Memorial Field.
