Colgate’s James Queeney Named Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week

HAMILTON, N.Y. (2/13/12) – Colgate men’s lacrosse junior James Queeney was named the Patriot League Defensive Player of the Week for his performance in the team’s 10-8 win over Bryant on Saturday.

The co-captain, who receives the first PL defensive player of the week award this season, had three groundballs and one caused turnover in the game, while also holding one of Bryant’s top attackmen from the 2011 season scoreless.

Queeney was one of three players to play and start in all 16 games last season. Named to the 2011 Academic All-Patriot League Team, he finished the season with 20 groundballs, 10 caused turnovers and one point from an assist against Navy.

Queeney and the Raiders will return to action this weekend when they host Vermont on Saturday, Feb. 18 at 12 p.m. in Hamilton, N.Y.
