DENVER – Seniors Eric Law (Centennial, Colo.), Cameron Flint (Georgetown, Ontario) and Chase Carraro (Louisville, Ky.), along with redshirt junior Drew Babb (Centennial, Colo.) were announced today as the 2012-13 University of Denver men’s lacrosse captains by head coach Bill Tierney.

“I have always believed that the result of the vote for captains tells a lot about the direction the players want the team to take,” Tierney said. “Since I have been at Denver, we have had some fantastic young men lead our teams. The young men chosen by their peers to lead the 2013 Pioneers will continue that legacy and is a group of which I am so proud. Cam Flint, Chase Carraro, Drew Babb and Eric Law each have an amazing individual story to tell, but together they will help our program continue its rise to the top of Division I lacrosse.”

Law joined the Pioneers for the 2011 season after transferring from Salisbury University, where he participated in the 2010 NCAA Division III National Championship game at M&T Bank Stadium. During his time with the Pioneers he has played in 34 games, recording 43 goals and 31 assists for 74 points. The attackman tallied a career-high five goals this past season against Robert Morris (02/26).

Entering his final season with the Pioneers, Flint has had three strong seasons while struggling with nagging injuries. Flint has played in 46 games, scoring 66 goals and recording 20 assists for 86 points. The midfielder has also tallied 79 groundballs and caused seven turnovers.

Rounding out the senior class is face-off specialist and midfielder Chase Carraro, who is coming off one of his most successful seasons since joining the Pioneers. He has played in 48 games, recording 33 goals and 11 assists for 44 points. Most important is his .568 career face-off winning percentage that ranks 15th in the nation heading into the 2013 season. He has won 553-of-973 career face-offs taken.

After sitting out his first two seasons as a medical redshirt, Babb completed his first season as a collegiate lacrosse player last season, starting every game for the Pioneers. The defender registered 21 ground balls, caused 11 turnovers, while adding one assist.

“These young men are men of integrity, fortitude and great passion for the Denver Lacrosse program and have already taken a leadership role in guaranteeing that next season will be our best yet,” Tierney said. “My staff and I cannot wait to begin to work with Cam, Chase, Drew and Eric, along with their outstanding senior classmates, toward our goal of another ECAC title and our first NCAA Championship.”

These four captains will lead a talented group of Pioneers that includes top returning juniors Jeremy Noble (Orangeville, Ontario) and Jamie Faus (Lakeville, Conn.), and sophomores Wes Berg (Coquitlam, B.C.), Ryan LaPlante (Fort Collins Colo.) and Carson Cannon (Stillwater, Minn.).
