Denver Outlaws Trade Drew Westervelt To Chesapeake Bayhawks For Joe Cinosky and Jeremy Sieverts

Boston, MA – Major League Lacrosse (MLL) announced today the Denver Outlaws have traded attackman Drew Westervelt to the Chesapeake Bayhawks for defenseman Joe Cinosky and midfielder Jeremy Sieverts. The trade becomes active just one day before the 10 to 12-man protected rosters will be released.

“Drew is a proven goal scorer and an All-Star,” said Bayhawks General Manager Brian Reese. “He will help add another great shooter to our offense. He is one of the most consistent scorers in the MLL and will be a huge asset in transition and to our extra man offense. We are excited to add him to our team.”

Westervelt, a Baltimore, Md. native, was Denver’s first round selection and the fourth overall pick in the 2007 MLL Collegiate Draft. Throughout his MLL career, Westervelt has tallied 114 goals, six 2-point goals and 59 assists, totaling 180 points for the Outlaws over five seasons. A two-time All-Star, Drew has seen play in the MLL playoffs three times with the Outlaws.

“I am excited to continue my MLL career in my hometown with the Bayhawks,” Westervelt proclaimed. “I have had a great career in Denver and I will be leaving a great team, but I grew up as a Bayhawks fan and playing in Maryland will be an excellent opportunity. I look forward to playing a contributing role for the franchise and succeeding as a team.”

In exchange, the Outlaws will gain support on defense with the addition of Cinosky and depth in their midfield line with Sieverts.

“The Denver Outlaws are very excited with the addition of defenseman Joe Cinosky and midfielder Jeremy Sieverts,” said newly appointed Outlaws General Manager Tony Seaman. “Joe Cinosky is an outstanding defenseman and brings added depth to our roster. Following an outstanding college career Joe has been a strong performer in the MLL and we look forward to having him become part of our defensive package. We believe that Jeremy Sieverts is ready to make an impact in the MLL. A gifted midfielder at the University of Maryland he has the ability to become one of our offensive leaders.”

The 10 to 12-man protected rosters will be released on Wednesday, October 12. Visit www.majorleaguelacrosse.com for more news from throughout the league.
