Fairfield Men’s Lacrosse Player Blog, Crab Cakes and Football

The 2012 season is here and we wanted to work closely with college programs to bring a part of the excitement to you. Throughout the 2012 season we will highlight lacrosse programs on our space for all of our readers to follow. Player blogs serve as a unique outlet for programs to showcase their season as it develops, plus highlight everything they have to offer a student-athlete. In contrast, families and fans get a glimpse into the program’s athletic and academic regimen.

Back at it again and another overtime win. 1 was understandable, 2 was enough, 3 … well there’s no need for that. I felt like we had the chance to run away with that game, but UMBC kept battling so props to them.

The good thing is we’re winning these one goal games after last season where we lost five games by a goal. It’s still early in the season and we still have a lot to work on, but it’s a great feeling being 4-0 and getting some respect by being ranked in the top 20.

Now for the record I was told to get less “Game talk” for this blog and more team talk (bad but great move, especially with me at the helm of this thing).

So here goes. The Theme – #StagLaxFacts.

Let’s start with our team stretches which happen pre-practice every day. They’re ran by Mr. Coach Whitley AKA the man who’s more into working on his shot than anyone in the game (not even lying and as a goalie you don’t want him warming you up pregame made that mistake once). But let’s be real the entertainment part is ran by the guys in jerseys #21-#28 (figures two goalies #20 Marky Mark and #29 SmilesFraylick is where it all ends; just messing young’ins you’ll learn one day I’m not worried).

Reed “perez” Marko loves this time because he loves talking about the market but more importantly his gossip. Alex Cramer, well I feel bad for the kid stuck next to me and Doi [Nick Tandoi]. Let’s just say he’s now more LI than southern and good for him!

While I’m having fun with this thing, next some random notes about the squad, [Thomas] Lukacovic’s beside being the hardest name to spell on the team is prob our best dancer (his favorite Nsync- Bye Bye Bye #Classic).

[Tommy] Whitlock almost died of the flu this past weekend and missed his homecoming to Maryland. Not one single person got a crab cake in Maryland on our past trip. Guess Maryland’s not just all about crab cakes and football?

Sam Snow, yeah that guy with all those goals on the squad is now currently in the search for love, Kevin Fritts apparently found it sorry ladies.

Hmm… and lastly, “Call me maybe” is the team’s victory song.

Yeah guess you can say we’re a pretty strange group but for me to be saying all this just shows the chemistry and how close this team is.

Let’s keep it rolling versus the in-state rivals, Quinnipiac tomorrow [March 7].

Oh, and big shout out to Fairfield Men’s and Women’s hoops squads for making it to the MAAC championship games.
