Fairfield Men’s Lacrosse Player Blog, Go Stags

The 2012 season is here and we wanted to work closely with college programs to bring a part of the excitement to you. Throughout the 2012 season we will highlight lacrosse programs on our space for all of our readers to follow. Player blogs serve as a unique outlet for programs to showcase their season as it develops, plus highlight everything they have to offer a student-athlete. In contrast, families and fans get a glimpse into the program’s athletic and academic regimen.

What’s up everyone?? Charlie Cipriano here from Fairfield U, and yep it looks like I was the chosen one to blog for our team throughout this season (luckily for all of you). A little bit about myself, I’m a senior captain and goaltender here at Fairfield, born and raised on the good old Long Island, went to the mecca – Herricks High School, and was recently drafted by the Denver Outlaws in this past January’s draft which is pretty cool.

We’ve had two scrimmages thus far versus Army and Brown. Both were real close games, losing to army by one and I thinking winning by one or two versus Brown. Definitely weren’t our best performances, but that’s what these scrimmages are for to get the kinks out before the season starts and to make sure everyone’s healthy. A lot of fresh faces got their first taste of Division I lax and saw some time, which is always a good thing for them.

All in all the team has been prepping hard for this season and everyone is real excited and hungry to take this team to the next level. We got our season opener coming up at home this Saturday versus Stony Brook. We’re going to have our hands full with a tough SBU squad that finished last season in the top 20. Theme of the week for us has been focus and hard work. It’s been real everyone and I’ll get back to you next week with blog numero dos. #GoStags

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
