Tops Friendly Markets LLC has become a major supporter of Syracuse University athletics, agreeing to a two-year deal. Williamsville-based Tops will sponsor SU’s football, men’s and women’s basketball, and men’s and women’s lacrosse.

Officials said that Tops shoppers will play a major role by participating in multiple contests and special ad-driven promotions.

A friend of the lacrosse community needs us, and it’s for a good cause. Leyla Morzan, a former tennis player at Penn State, is running to find a cure for blood cancers. She is participating in a marathon on October 17 with the The Leukemia & Lymphoma Society of Canada’s Team In Training.

Her goal is to raise $4,100. She is a little shy of the number by $2,400. 412Lax and Morzan are doing a gear giveaway to drive more donations to the cause. All you have to do is donate and you will be eligible to win the prize listed in your donation level. Winners will be selected at random by Miss Morzan.

We first reported in June that the hit show on the Travel Channel, Man v Food, made a stop at Syracuse University. He left with more than just a tummy ache though, he played lax with the likes of Dan Hardy and Matt Abbott while wearing the legendary 22 jersey. Here is the clip from last night’s episode. The “Cardiff Kook,” a statue in Encinitas, California, dedicated to surfers, has been dressed up like a laxer.

“They’ve done it again. Pranksters have turned the “Cardiff Kook” into a lacrosse player.

Last week, the statue was dressed up like a clown, complete with balloons. Earlier this summer, a paper mache shark was placed around the surfer.

Encinitas city officials have said the pranks aren’t a high priority. Workers usually take down the creative get-ups within a few days.”

The Stealth Bombshells are the premiere dance team in the National Lacrosse League. On August 28, 2010, they held auditions for the 2011 season with some of the top dancers in the Puget Sound region on hand looking to make the squad.
