George Washington University Mens Lax Helmets By HeadWrapz

Here are some sweet Pro7 helmets that HeadWrapz designed for the GW lacrosse team. They are entitled “Brolonials” after the school’s mascot, Colonials. I got this in my inbox earlier and have been so caught up with the Holidaze and seeing old friends that I forgot to get this up. What’s even more funny–is that—I live down the street from George Washington’s campus in Foggy Bottom, DC. This wrap is very iconic and representative of not only the school, but our nations history.

The helmet has a Buff and Blue colorway displaying the GW’s school colors. The side profile portrays Washington’s crossing of the Delaware River, which occurred on Christmas Day, December 25, 1776, during the American Revolutionary War. This was the first move in a surprise attack organized by George Washington against the Hessian forces in Trenton, New Jersey. Planned in partial secrecy, Washington led a column of Continental Army troops across the icy Delaware River in a logistically challenging and dangerous operation. Other planned crossings in support of the operation were either called off or ineffective, but this did not prevent Washington from successfully surprising and defeating the troops of Johann Rall quartered in Trenton. The army crossed the river back to Pennsylvania, this time burdened by prisoners and military stores taken as a result of the battle.

Washington’s army then crossed the river a third time at the end of the year, under conditions made more difficult by the uncertain thickness of the ice on the river. They defeated British reinforcements under Lord Cornwallis on January 2, 1777, and defeated his rear guard at Princeton before retreating to winter quarters in Morristown, New Jersey.

The back of the helmet features the flag of Washington, DC. The good ole “Stars and Bars.” It is based on the design of the coat of arms of George Washington, first used to identify the family in the twelfth century, when one of George Washington’s ancestors took possession of Washington Old Hall, then in County Durham, north-east England. For heraldic reasons, the stars are properly called mullets. Love the mullets part! G. Dubya’s signature on the chin.

The GW Men’s Lacrosse team looks to celebrate another season as one of the University’s most competitive sports clubs. Founded in 1997, the team has made steady progress towards the assumption of powerhouse status in their respective league, the National College Lacrosse League. By the way, if you are ever near GW’s campus you have to check out Burger, Tap & Shake on Washington Circle. Great burger and delicious beverages. Cheers!

Cool, but should say COLONIALS, not Brolonials!  Go GW!
