Navy’s Men’s and Women’s Lacrosse teams will no longer be able to scrimmage other teams this weekend. The Men were scheduled to play UMBC (who is now playing in the Capital Lacrosse Classic), while the Women were scheduled to play GW and host an alumni game. The Navy-Air Force football game is the only athletic competition that will take place this weekend.

Statement from Navy reads:

Oct. 3, 2013 – The Department of Defense has cancelled all Naval Academy varsity and club sports through Sunday as a result of the government shutdown.

Navy and Air Force have received approval from the Department of Defense to play Saturday’s football game at Navy-Marine Corps Memorial Stadium. Kickoff is set for 11:40 a.m. and the game will be televised nationally by CBS.
