Great Plains Lacrosse Classic Tournament

Registration is now open for the inaugural Great Plains Lacrosse Classic Tournament brought to you by Under Armour Lacrosse and Tom Marechek’s All Pro Lacrosse, and we invite your team to come play! The Great Plains Lacrosse Classic is this Summer 2012 on Saturday, June 23rd – Sunday, June 24th at the state-of-the-art Overland Park Soccer Complex in Overland Park, Kansas. This is a premier tournament for U13, U15, and high school teams nationwide to come clash and compete in a central location for national recognition and to be seen by college coaches. Lacrosse teams from nontraditional and upcoming regions of the country will have the opportunity to come showcase their talent.

About the Tournament
The Great Plains Lacrosse Classic is open to all U13, U15, and high school teams nationwide, especially teams in upcoming areas such as the Midwest, South, and West Coast. The tournament will be Round Robin format and take place Saturday, June 23rd and Sunday, June 24th. In addition, we are featuring college coaches from NCAA D1, D2, and D3, and coaches representing MCLA D1 and D2 schools will be in attendance as well. Our goal is to give players an opportunity to interact with and get exposure from schools they might not otherwise get the chance to play in front of.

All Star Game
On Saturday evening, 44 high school players will be selected to play in the inaugural Great Plains 44 All-Star game under the lights and in front of the college coaches. The college coaches will help in casting votes for the top 44 players selected to play, so this is a great chance for players to get direct exposure.

Skills’ Clinic/Recruiting Seminar
As part of the tournament package, on Friday evening before the tournament weekend kick-offs, Hall of Famer Tom Marechek, All Pro coaches, and NCAA/MCLA coaches will be conducting an optional Skills’ Clinic for all positions that will give players a great opportunity to learn new skills and reinforce fundamentals. Also, this program includes a Recruiting Seminar to allow players the chance to hear from and ask questions to college coaches to gain insight on college lacrosse recruiting.

The Tournament Facility
The Overland Park Soccer Complex is a top sports’ facility that offers 12 turf fields equipped with lights and scoreboards as well as a field cooling system to ease the summer temperatures.

Lacrosse Playground

In 2009, Adam O’Neill, Harry Alford and Thomas Alford launched Lacrosse Playground as the preeminent site for lacrosse gearheads. For years Lacrosse Playground provided lacrosse fans with tutorials and tips on how to string a lacrosse head, up-close looks at the gear the top players used and sneak peeks at equipment and uniforms before they were released. More than 10 years and millions of visits later, Lacrosse Playground has relaunched with a focus on storytelling. Our mission is to provide comprehensive coverage of the latest lacrosse news, share insights into the sports betting and fantasy lacrosse world and showcase the lifestyles and personalities of the sport of lacrosse through articles, videos and podcasts.
