Harvard Men’s Lacrosse Announces 2015 Schedule

CAMBRIDGE, Mass. – Chris Wojcik ’96, The Frisbie Family Head Coach for Harvard Men’s Lacrosse, has announced the team’s 2015 schedule which features seven games to be played in Cambridge and five contests against opponents which competed in the 2014 NCAA tournament.

“We have assembled a challenging schedule for the 2015 season, and our team is eager to begin the season,” Wojcik commented. “Our out-of-conference schedule will provide our team with multiple opportunities to play some of the best teams in the country as we prepare for the Ivy League schedule. We are proud to be a member of the Ivy League, and our conference will once again be very competitive.”

Harvard received an at-large berth to the 2014 NCAA tournament, the first for the program since 2006. The Crimson finished the year with a 10-7 overall record and a 5-1 mark in the Ivy League, earning a share of its first Ancient Eight title in 24 years. By virtue of its regular season title, the Crimson earned the right to host the Ivy League Tournament at Harvard Stadium, where it advanced to the tournament final for the second time in program history. Additionally, Harvard reached as high as No. 11 in the USILA Div. I Coaches Poll, matching the highest ranking in program history.

Harvard will begin the year at home against UMass (Feb. 21) before heading out on the road to face Holy Cross (Feb. 23). The road trip will continue that weekend at Duke (Feb. 28) against a Blue Devils squad which won its second straight NCAA National Championship in 2014.

The Crimson will return home to host Quinnipiac (March 3) and Penn State (March 7), and will head back out on the road to begin Ivy League play at Brown (March 14). Harvard will head south once again for a meeting with North Carolina (March 17), an NCAA tournament participant from a year ago which finished the season ranked ninth in the USILA Coaches Poll and 10th in the Warrior Div. I Media Poll. The road swing will conclude at Dartmouth (March 21).

Albany (March 24) and Cornell (April 4) await Harvard when it returns to Cambridge. The Great Danes, who reached the Elite Eight in 2014, were ranked No. 15/7 to end last season while the Big Red, which also competed in the NCAA tournament, was ranked No. 13/14.

Harvard will make the short trip to Commonwealth Ave. to face Boston University (April 7) before playing host to Penn (April 11) that weekend. The Quakers, another NCAA participant in 2014, were ranked No. 9/13 to end the year.

The Crimson will wrap up the regular season at Princeton (April 17) and at home against Yale (April 25), which was ranked No. 16/17 in the final polls.

The Ivy League Tournament will be held Friday, May 1 and Sunday, May 3 and will be hosted by the Ivy League’s regular season champion. The winner of the conference tournament will receive the Ancient Eight’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
