Harvard Men’s Lacrosse Introduces Eight From The Class of 2019

CAMBRDIGE, Mass. – Chris Wojcik ’96, The Frisbie Family Head Coach for Harvard Men’s Lacrosse, has announced the addition of eight freshmen to the program for the 2016 season.  Harvard’s Class of 2019 hails from California, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, and Canada.  

“Today we officially welcome the class of 2019 to the Harvard lacrosse family.  This is an exciting time for eight young men as they move into the Yard this morning to begin their Harvard careers,” stated Wojcik. “As the game of lacrosse continues to grow, we welcome two Canadians and a student-athlete from California for the third straight year, along with young men from the traditional lacrosse hot beds.  The class is strong up the middle of the field, and we look forward to assimilating the group into our team when we begin training for the 2016 season.”

Inside Lacrosse ranked three of the seven freshmen among the top 50 in the class of 2015, including the No. 5 overall recruit, James Sullivan. Jack Corbett is the top ranked goalie in this year’s freshman class, while Connor McCroskey has been tabbed at No. 46 in the class. The group of incoming freshmen also includes Larsen Bidstrup, Jonathan Butler, Eric Wang, Marc Pion, and Spencer Daniel.

Jonathan Butler | Defenseman | 6-1 | 190 | Summit, N.J. | The Pingry School
Three-year letterwinner in lacrosse at The Pingry School … Led Pingry to a state championship in 2015, and to the Tournament of Champions semifinals … Received All-America, all-state and first team all-conference honors in 2015 … Also earned all-state honorable mention and second team all-conference recognition in 2014 … Selected to the 2014 Under Armour Underclass All-America New Jersey team and 2013 Under Armour Underclass Uncommitted All-America team … Also lettered one year in hockey … Received the 2015 Pingry School Centennial Cup Student-Athlete Award … 2015 National Merit Scholar … Volunteered with Hoboken Youth Lacrosse, St. Justine Pre-School in Newark, Lacrosse the Nations, and John Taylor Babbitt Foundation.

Ranked as the No. 1 goalkeeper and No. 20 overall recruit in the class of 2015 by Inside Lacrosse … Four-year lacrosse letterwinner at Duxbury High School (2011-13) and The Hotchkiss School (2013-15) … Captained the Hotchkiss lacrosse team senior year … Led Hotchkiss to its best record in over five years as a junior, and to the team’s first win in the Black and Blue Bowl versus The Westminster School in over four years as a senior … Named an Under Armour All-American and All-New England as a senior … Received All-Founders League honors as a junior … Recipient of the C. Nelson Corey Lacrosse MVP Award as a senior … Only freshman to make varsity lacrosse at Duxbury … Under ArmourAlso played JV hockey for four years and was team captain as a senior.

Ranked as the No. 46 recruit in the Class of 2019 by Inside Lacrosse … Four-year lacrosse letterwinner at The Bishop’s School … Captained lacrosse team as a junior and senior … Named the 2014 Coastal League Player of the Year and was a two-time All-Coastal League first team selection … Also named to the All-California Interscholastic Federation (CIF) first team in 2014 … Set schools records with 109 points and 67 assists in 2014 … Two-time All-CIF Academic Team selection Also earned three varsity letters in basketball and captained the team as a senior

Four-year lacrosse letterwinner at IMG Academy … Two-time captain of the IMG national team … As a senior, led IMG Academy to a 10-4 record and a program-high No. 5 national ranking … Earned Under Armour All-America honors in 2015 and US Lacrosse All-America honors in 2014 … Selected to the 2014 Canada Lacrosse U19 National Championship All-Star Team … Also tabbed to the All-Canada Tournament All-Star Team in 2013 and 2014 … Recipient of the 2014 IMG Academy Ascender Award as the team’s MVP … Also earned two varsity letters in track and field … Montreal Gold Medalist in the 400 meter dash and 4×400 meter dash in 2012 and 2013 … Volunteered with the Special Olympics and led IMG Academy with the most community service hours logged.
