CAMBRIDGE, Mass.Morgan Cheek has been named the Ivy League Rookie of the Week following his two-goal performance in Harvard’s 8-7 win over No. 9/8 Yale, conference officials announced Monday.

Cheek turned in his second straight multi-goal performance with two scores against the Bulldogs, marking his third multiple-point effort of the year. His second came to begin the fourth quarter, giving Harvard a 7-4 margin.

Cheek has totaled 14 points on seven goals and seven assists this season, including a five-point outburst (3g, 2a) two weeks ago at Princeton.

Cheek is the third member of the Crimson to earn a weekly award from the Ivy League this season. Deke Burns received player of the week honors on Feb. 24 after scoring seven goals in Harvard’s season opening win versus UMass, and Joe Lang was named rookie of the week March 10 following a nine-point week (7g, 2a) against Quinnipiac and Penn State.
